Artificial Intelligence
Posted by Jane on September 28, 2023 at 11:11 pmHow are some of you using AI to your benefit? I feel that there must be some innovative ways to harness its abilities. I have dabbled a bit but really don’t have much of an idea!

I use it sometimes and it feels strange but helpful – especially when using it for things like complaints letters. I need to learn more!

Hi Jane! Artificial Intelligence offers so much potential but it does have to be used carefully, especially in Education. I wrote a blog about it on All4Maternity, I need to learn more and then will write more to support others. Here’s the link:

I love the fact that it eases the mental load with everyday tasks but I do worry about it eroding a sense of personality that individuals bring.

Hi Jane.
I am using AI most days now. I particularly like Co-Pilot as it links with all Microsoft tools. I commonly use it for writing emails and checking my spelling and grammar.
I appreciate the concerns over assessments going forward. Colleagues in other subjects are using Chat GPT to critique some research and the students then need to critique Chat GPT’s critique. The evaluation so far is good, it highlighted the errors of generative, students can’t rely on it and at the moment it is incapable of thinking like a human.
Other things I’ve used AI for: lesson plans, structure of reports, ideas for engaging teaching, design images I can’t find and much.
So far, I think generative AI has improved my organisation, reduced the time I’ve spent on admin tasks and improved teaching session.
I believe we need to embrace generative AI, role model and teach how to use it ethically and responsibility.

Agree. Over the last few months, since I posed that question, I have incorporated it into helping with organisation and planning.
Have you seen ‘Degree Doctor’? She gives good ideas on how to ethically use AI like Chat GPT.

I haven’t seen Degree Doctor – no Jane! I’ll have a look 👌🏽

She’s on YouTube. Most of her stuff is around PhD but there are a few vids on ChatGPT 😊
