Ideas for support future midwifery leaders?
I wanted to reach out here and see how people are feeling and if you can think or share any ways in which we can offer support and guidance to future midwifery leaders? A few midwives have reached out, or included in a discussion about how they often cannot see HOW they can take the next step into a leadership position. I have offered some guidance, but would love to hear your ideas please!

I think there need to be good courses for new or upcoming leaders. But those midwives need to be supported in attending them, and in doing the work. So often people get into leadership without any training – often pushed into those roles. Strong future leadership is an important investment, and keen leaders should not be expected to advance their career whilst still working full time clinical jobs, for example.
